What to know about the Nalgene Sustain 32 oz
Weight tells the story. At 6.3 oz it weighs about a third of the YETI's 21.1 oz and under half the Takeya's 16.8 oz. On a long day hike that difference is real.
The listing's size fields describe the box, not the bottle, so we print no height or base. A two-pack Nalgene listing in the same scan gives a 3.5 in base and a 63 mm mouth, and another states a range of -40F to 212F.
It is a hard plastic bottle with a screw lid, so ice melts about as fast as in a glass. Hot water is fine, and CleverHiker likes a warm Nalgene stuffed into a sleeping bag on cold nights.

Living with it
Sustain or classic
Sustain is Nalgene's version made with half plastic waste. CleverHiker's own link for its Wide Mouth pick goes to a Sustain listing. Nalgene also sells a narrow mouth version and a 3.8 oz Ultralite, per CleverHiker.
Print prices
Prints barely move the price. Three prints of the same 32 oz were within 50 cents of each other in our scan, and a clear stained-glass version cost slightly less, which makes the Nalgene one of the few bottles in this guide where you can buy the design you like without paying a premium for it. The listing we link was sold by a third-party store with nine left, so the seller is worth a glance.
Hot water
Nalgene's other listings rate the plastic from -40F to 212F. That makes it a hot water bottle on a cold night, and CleverHiker recommends tucking a warm one into a sleeping bag. Use a sock or sleeve if the water is near boiling. Close it tight.
