Owala FreeSip too wide for the car or no good for coffee? The Stanley IceFlow is built for the console, and the Hydro Flask takes hot drinks under the right cap.

Why look past the Owala FreeSip

Three limits come up. It takes no hot or carbonated drinks, CleverHiker lists it as not dishwasher-safe, and its own listing says the base is wider than a standard cup holder.

Owala's slimmer FreeSip Twist fixes two of those: its listing gives a 2.91 in base and allows hot and carbonated drinks. You will find it with the alternatives on the home page.

For kids, the Funtainer is the closer fit. It keeps the idea of a covered straw and a push button, in 12 oz that a small hand can hold, and it costs less than the Owala while asking less of the person carrying it. Small hands, small bottle.

FAQ

What is the best alternative to the Owala FreeSip?

For a car, the Stanley IceFlow. Coffee drinkers should look at the Hydro Flask with its Flex Cap. A narrower Owala exists too: the FreeSip Twist.

Is the Owala FreeSip Twist better?

Narrower and fine with hot drinks per its listing, with a twist top in place of the push-button lock. Check the price of the color you want.
